Events Management Club

Institute of Technical Education College Central | 2015 -  2017

Even though I was pursuing Higher Nitec in Events Management, I had decided to join the Events Management club as well. The club provided me many opportunities to make use of the knowledge and skills acquired from my course. Through this rewarding time, I was also able to witness first-hand how the different companies in the events industry work.

An event that the club annually organised Campus Game Fest. It is an annual festival filled with digital lifestyle activities in the areas of Games, Arts, Media and Edutainment. The festival's objective is to promote creativity, innovation and cultivate cyber wellness.

Responsibility:

In the 2016,

  • Usher for the Guests-of-Honour

  • Member of the Student Management department

    • Main point of contact for the volunteers

    • Responsible for volunteers' welfare

    • To make sure that volunteers are on task

Learning Points:

Through the role of a student manager, I have learnt that building a rapport with the volunteers is essential as it is often a motivation for them to frequent their volunteering. This also ensures that the communication between the department and the volunteers will be effective and clear, thus preventing miscommunication.

Concert Band

Yuying Secondary School | 2011 - 2014

Joining the school's Concert Band was the best decision I have ever made.

Being in the Band taught me:

  • Importance of teamwork

  • How hard work will eventually pay off

While in the Concert Band, I was given the opportunity of being the Band Major, which required me to:

  • Help manage the Band

  • Serve as the Student Conductor

Through this leadership role,

  • I often had to voice out my opinions to the members, teachers and even my conductors

    • Build up self-confidence

    • As time went by, I eventually stopped caring so much about the feedback and readily accepted it to improve myself

  • I frequently present in front of huge crowds, such as during school assembly or public performances

    • Boosted my public speaking skills.
