In my semester 3.1, I interned at the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO), a local professional Chinese orchestra. I was attached to the Programmes department where I assist with the ticketed, education & outreach programme. My responsibilities ranged from emceeing to artist liaison to concerts such as the Young Children Concert (YCC) and the annual Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra (SNYCO) concerts.

What I did

• Putting together a lyrics book for SCO Caring Series 

  • Searching up the​ individual lyrics & matching it to the music scores 

• Master of Ceremonies to 6 community events for SCO Caring Series 

  • Come up with my own script in English & Mandarin 

• Created a deck of slides for the Young Children Concert 

• Sourced for soloists' costumes for the Young Children Concert

• Volunteer Recruitment for the Young Children Concert

• Designed Name Tag Badges for the Young Children Concert

What I learnt 

• To do a good job in emceeing, I should always rehearsed my lines so as to ensure that I was familiar with my parts & do not need to be too reliant on my cue cards

  • Able to present myself in a more polished manner ​

  • Overcame my fear of leading events & approaching things that I may not be good at or have done before 

• Establishing a positive working relationship with verbal communication 

• To have my tasks written on post it notes that has deadlines written with asterisks& highlighted markets to indicate its importance

• What kind of aesthetic that a deck of slides should have to attract the attention of the younger event attendees
